DAY 14
There may not be an official subgenre called Nor Cal horror but there should be! The Fog, Humanoids from the Deep, Halloween III, John Carpenter's Village of the Damned, Salem's Lot, and The Love Witch are the ones that come to mind but, Dead & Buried is another film in the genre.
The coastal town of Potter's Bluff attracts many visitors but when said visitors end up getting murdered, it's up to Sheriff Dan Gilis to find the culprit(s) and the motive behind the gruesome killings.
But, will the truth be more than Sheriff Gilis is willing to handle? What secrets are buried in Potter's Bluff?
There is so much to love in this cult classic. Cinematography, memorable characters, fun premise, moody 1940's-style score, and rad special f/x by Stan Winston (the genius behind Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, Aliens, Edward Scissorhands, and many more films).
We also see a pre-Freddy Robert Englund and a wild performance by Jack Albertson, famous for playing Charlie's grandpa in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Albertson's role is enough to watch this one but, as a whole, this movie is a wonderful, horrific little mystery in the vein of The Wicker Man.
A Nor Cal horror classic that is currently free on Tubi.

Yay! This made my day!
These movies are my passion and I think there are so many of these little gems worth sharing! They always have something to offer, even if it's just a kooky performance, gnarly special f/x (like the autopsy table scene) or nice little twists like this one has.
Soo glad you enjoyed it! 😄
80's cult horror!? My kind of people!
You are so welcome for the rec! I'm so glad you liked it :)
