Kids just want to feel special and loved. Of course saying nice things to their face is good and necessary. But when you talk about them to someone else positively and they overhear it? It does something magic to them, I swear. The trick is to not make it all action or accomplishments based. “Did you see how much fun X was having today while playing? Isn’t he just the best?” “I was so proud of X when he fell off his bike and got back on it again.” “Every time I hear X singing, it puts a smile on my face.”
Subtly watch your kids light up when they overhear you.
