My neighbor and I had this EXACT conversation this morning while out on a hike and it’s so refreshing to see it here! My husband lost his job a few months ago and despite doing everything he can to find a new one, a good fit just hasn’t presented itself. Our cultures obsession with tying our worth to our profession is quite sick. I love the idea of asking people about WHO they are, what interests them, what lights them up so that no one ever feels insecure with their answer.

I always ask “how do you spend your time” because of exactly this! It opens the door for people to talk about their passions like art, reading, creating, or volunteering!

I’m a therapist so this is totally cliche. But I always try to say “tell me about yourself” to keep it nice and neutral
