We all brainstorm a list of suggestions and then go around privately and our top 3. The most tallies become our picks for the next three months which we then assign based on theme/availability etc. It gives us plenty of time to plan/put books on hold at the library and it saves people from feeling like “their” book was not well received etc.

So everyone has one place to add their notes as they read, that way you have a ton of talking points without anyone being on the spot/having to remember… Whatever you do, please don’t use AI to generate discussion topics— someone did that in a recent book club I was in and it’s such a bummer and so obvious. Also themed snacks/drinks/dress code based on the book!
