Extremely sly, low key melancholy humor of the English variety for people who love PBS and really miss the Hairpin and/or the Toast. A good book for difficult times.

I love Barbara Pym so much + I never liked the Hairpin or Toast, ha! (One of the joys of Pym is that she is more Austen-esque; acutely sharp but never snarky.) Hard to pick a favorite from her; they are all worth reading ✨
That's thoroughly fair. I loved those websites for their small-scale (some might say petty) obsessions and enthusiasms and--crucially--it's where I first read about Pym! Ultimately, there's room for us all in Pymland. I would love for someone to put out new editions her work.
