I started this tradition at 26 years old and ran my first ever marathon. My first year I chose a brutal course and it was way too intense. Since then I’ve made it an annual tradition and have chosen a more welcoming route. I’m 29 now so I have a few of these long runs under my belt. Friends and family usually run legs with me or bike along. They have aid stations with watermelon, corona and uncrustables. My sister and my best friend make stickers and T-shirts and bibs for everyone participating. It’s a little unhinged and very very fun. It’s fun to do a hard things with people you love.
