Yond Cottage - Lake Superior Cabin Rental: Perfect spot right on the lake. Have only stayed here in the shoulder season but it would be sepctacular in mid-winter.

The Minnestuga: This might be too big for a couple (it sleeps 8) but it is soooo dreamy. On a lake, close to town (grand marais), sauna outside. Every detail is perfect. We went with another family in June and have been dreaming about going back ever since. Grand Marais is so easy to navigate, everything is right there. Enjoy!

Gooseberry Falls: Absolutely make a stop at Gooseberry Falls!

The sandwiches at Northern Waters Smokehaus are incredible.

Also if you are driving from the Twin Cities make a stop at Cedar Coffee Company.
