Baldwin Hills Overlook: It gets busy on Saturdays but worth the view at the top + the incline is steep enough for a worthy leg workout.

Franklin Canyon reservoir: Such a special oasis you can almost forget you’re basically in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately you will remember that you are there when you enter the parking area that is filled with g wagons and cyber trucks and when you encounter other people on a walk in nature who think it’s acceptable to conduct business via speakerphone in what should be idyllic surroundings. I would say go at a weird time, but no time is weird enough for these people.

Anyway, the reservoir is a great, if short walk, but there are plenty of more serious hikes in the canyons around it, and there’s also an adorable turtle pond a bit beyond the reservoir. If you dare to enter the danger zone of Bev hills proper you can pick up a very pricey picnic spread from the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills and find a great picnic table and enjoy!! Also great playground with CLEAN bathrooms at the bottom of the canyon if kids are along for the ride.

Solstice Canyon!: Technically Malibu but it has everything and more, most importantly a waterfall and RUINS. I loved it as a kid and it’s as fun now. We would have leaf races in the creek 🥲 Go early or on a weekday!

Beaudry Loop: As a Glendale native, this is my go-to hiking suggestion. No need to complete the full loop; it’s a pretty versatile hiking option and beautiful experience no matter how much of it you complete (I’ve often gone for maybe 1-1.5 hours worth of walking from the trailhead and then turned around). Not a ton of shaded sections, but the trails are generally wide and easy to traverse. Great route if you enjoy saying hi to folks along the way.
