My mom makes the world’s best apple crisp. She is not a cook or a baker. She does not find joy in it. But she makes this exceptionally well. She uses no recipe but admits it is loosely based on this recipe, using less brown sugar and more oats. My mom will make a whole pan or just make individual servings in ramekins and it’s equally excellent. As an aside, did everyone else’s mom have a pampered chef phase?
Unfortunately, the microwave is essential here. I am a microwave hater. I have tried to make many a different baked apple crisp and none are as good as this. It’s the only thing I cook in the microwave that came with my house.
The crisp part here just turns out so well. I like to plop my serving in my vessel upside down, eat the apples first, and greedily enjoy the crisp last. :)
