The Summer Book (Tove Jansson)

Amy

“The most beautiful story between a little girl, her grandmother, and their island. I wish I could read it again for the first time.”

gerund

“the story of a little girl and her grandmother spending the summer on a remote finnish island. many novels try to shape themselves around a pivotal absence that is never explained and only ever implied through the actions of the central characters, but few are really successful, imo. this beautiful, bittersweet novel is the positive example par excellence.”
