My two fig trees are some of my favorite plants! I live in an apartment in Chicago, so keep them in pots. They go into my garage when they lose their leaves around Thanksgiving, and I water them once a month until they start to push leaves out in early March. I bring them into my apartment and they leaf out and grow like crazy even before I move them outside in June. Highly recc getting one; they are so pretty!

“low financial risk, high potential joy return, why not try? The Chicago hardy variety can survive all the way up in zone 5! I stuck one in the ground this spring, it's still small but alive, who will it be in 10 years??”

“A fig tree that is cold tolerant enough for zone 5! Beautiful leaves and fairly fast growing. Produces fruit on old growth in the spring and new growth in the fall. Check your local garden sales - I got a baby tree start from a retired landscaper for $10.”
