The Mushroom Fan Club by Elise Gravel

Birders talk about "spark birds," meaning the bird that gets you into birding. This book is like that for mushrooms (reading it led to years of mushroom walks with my kid + inadvertently resulted in me editing two issues of a mushroom magazine). A combination of goofy doodles + useful morsels of information, just enough to tempt you up and off the couch to go out and look for mushrooms (one of the v. best hobbies, because you can do it anywhere. I have found true stunners in the mulched islands...

This was what sparked my pandemic obsession, erm, I mean, hobby… I loved to take my daughter on mushroom walks- it was like nature’s Easter egg hunt! The book is so charming and we read this over and over and over!
