Hudson Valley - ART - Opening of Liz Nielsen and akeylah wellington 10/3/26

I am lucky enough to be camped out close to the Wassiac Project and if you are too - or if you're up for a drive from NYC it's worth it. Cool art, cool area, cool people.

We planned a full day of programming including moderated artist talks, a reception on the Gridley Chapel lawn and live music. The Art Nest will also be open till 5, so bring your kids! We have been working really hard behind the scenes to create spaces of radical joy, and our hope is that these public artworks and renovations to the Gridley Chapel will allow us to do just that. 

The first public artwork we are celebrating is Liz Nielsen’s Crystalline Resonance, 12 new “stained glass” windows in the Chapel transforming the space into a dynamic, sensory experience of color and light. (If you attended our most recent musical event you might've seen it!) 

The second public artwork is akeylah wellington’s nine by ten foot pony bead tapestries inspired by Hubble Space Telescope images. These larger-than-life tapestries depict new, cool, and aspirational futures—skies that will never be in times that never were.
