The recorded stuff is good, but it has nothing on the energy of his live show. While he was setting up, I watched him change into his stomping shoes (he brought his own plywood to stomp on), but first he had to pull various capos and harmonicas and who knows what out of the shoes. He’s an exceptional multi-instrumentalist, and, yes, possessed by the spirit of his grandfather and father, Paul and James. I don’t know how often he plays outside of central Texas, but whenever he does, you should absolutely see him. A phenomenal show.
