Set at “Miss Pratt’s” (aka Miss Porter's/Farmington) in the 1960s, this book examines the culture shifts of the 60s and how Miss Pratt’s was and was not affected. I loved the characters, the very specific setting, the aspects of school life that carried over into my own experience decades later. Living on an all-girls’ campus does feel isolating in a good way—an island away from the world. The New Girls reflects this dislocation perfectly against a backdrop of some of the most significant cultural change in the past century.
