No place more delightful! Teddy Roosevelt stuff abounds! There’s a great bookstore right in town called Theodore’s. Amazing coffee at Southdown. Italian ice at a place that’s been there for over 100 years! (Bonanza’s). And a great brewery. And you can just take the LIRR right into the center of town. But if you have a car make a reservation at Teddy’s summer White House, Sagamore Hill, and don’t miss the walk down to the beach there (no swimming though).

There is a great one called the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach that has food, bathrooms, etc. Not sure if they are cracking down on residents/non-residents but you can always buy a ticket to the Oyster Bay Train Museum to get through the gate to the beach because the second part of the train museum is in that park... ;) We love it there! Also great beaches for swimming: Centre Island Beach (soundside) and Stehli Beach (you can park across the street--they charge but then you can just walk over). Have FUN!
@molly are you still allowed to swim at Beekman?? Got told off a couple years ago now that it's for kayakers/sailors. Please correct me if I'm wrong because it was also a favorite!
yes and it's SO good!!
OMG really?? We LOVE the sanctuary and are usually there at least once/week in the summer. The grave is so beautiful and such a grounding place.
