From bell hooks’ “Appalachian Elegy” by Devin Kelly

This is a beautiful essay on Devin’s classroom reading together, laughing together, putting themselves out there together and trying together. It is nice to hear that professors are doing something like this. A very hopeful read

“They will try and try to get it right. And they might not. Not completely, no. But that is okay. Because it is not the getting it right that is sacred; it is the trying that is sacred. Because everyone watches it. And everyone wants it to meet the mark of whatever it is trying towards. And everyone is better for it.”
