"Echoes Myron" by Guided by Voices

Slapper by Ohio's most prolific songwriter, Robert Pollard, who also pitched a no-hitter on May 11, 1978.

Idk how deep in the GBV lore you are but if you haven’t, check out an alternate of Echos Myron they released about ten years ago in a compilation. The track is called ‘Try Me on for Size’. Weird to hear an alternate reality for a minute.

I would never claim to be deep in GBV-land--the output is so voluminous and constant, and I am a mere skater on the surface--but my local college radio DJs play quite a few deep cuts from the wider Pollardverse from time to time, including that one 🌝 it is fundamentally such a lovely, jangly little tune that it holds up beautifully to reincarnation.

100%. Rock bands that happen to pump out literal pop perfection every once in a while is a favorite micro genre. Pixies, The Strokes… hmmm The Cure?

There is no better feeling than being in the near center of the beer-y sway at a GBV show when this song gets played.
