This looks fascinating! My mom and her sisters have been reading their grandmother’s daily diaries and laundry (particularly curtains bc of the coal burning stove) is a constant refrain.

It's very moving, because the 21 women speaking all have strong and different feelings about it, and Cantow filmed it at a moment when laundry (and womens' lives) were changing—washing machines and dryers becoming more affordable. Line-hung laundry was becoming a thing of the past, esp. in cities.
