As a recovering people pleaser who is trying to stop overexplaining myself, saying "because of who I am as a person" as an explanation might just be the perfect solution. Highly recommended for all my ADHD and autistic hotties out there who sometimes ~simply cannot~ gather the executive function required to achieve a supposedly simple task, such as arriving on time or having a tidy house.
