The Heart and the Bottle (Oliver Jeffers)

I love everything that Oliver Jeffers does but this book is probably my favorite. It is a simple but profound book about a little girl who loses her grandpa and decides to put her heart in a jar to protect herself from the pain of life. Over time she learns that this also comes with consequences and she starts the process of trying to make sense of the loss through curiosity, play, and connection.
