send your mom very specific thrift wishlist request while she's at her bffs lakehouse

my mom was spending a week at her hs bffs lakehouse in minnesota or maybe north dakota. to be honest, i wasn't sure the exact location, but i knew she'd be in the upper midwest aka the THRIFTING GOLDMINE. i sent her this photo and said, "if you happen to see a bud vase and/or tiny revere bowl in silver/pewter/chrome keep me in your heart." and because i have to be specific with my mom, i added, "no brass or gold pls." it was fun because throughout her trip she was sending me photos of her and her bff on a wild goose chase, stopping at yard sales, antique malls, church rummage sales, and thrift stores. i don't have the type of relationship with my mom where we text frequently or are involved in the day to day aspects of each other's lives, and this is by design. i see my parents of couple of times a month so that's how we connect. however, i will admit, i did enjoy the random updates from two women enjoying their 50+ year friendship. and yes, i did get the magical text, "found these pewter bud vases, they were $3 each so i bought them all for you."
