Autobiography of Red (Anne Carson)

Henry

“I never would have imagined a Greek myth could be so seamlessly, radically reinterpreted. A semiotic love story, told in verse, that reads the way a Wong Kar Wai film feels. Where has Anne Carson been all my life?”

“smart and sweet and tender and original. erotic, but just under your skin. once gifted by a lover, who asked for it back at the end of our term. it's that good.”

“Nobel Prize Winner (as of today) Carson is a renowned scholar of Greek Literature and weaves beautiful texts of ancient narratives into modern stories of lust and violence. First discovered her in my 20’s and her work feels timeless, given its diachronic roots, and even more salient in my 40’s. All of her books live on my forever shelf.”
