Devotions by Mary Oliver

Ginny Branch

“Her poetry is my favorite to read while I drink my coffee. The documentary out now on her is also worth a watch. I’ve been reading selected poems to my daughter. The line “You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it love,” is tattooed on my brain.”
