IVF Tips:

Ice pack on your injection spots pre-injection. Made a difference for me!

Expect news at some point that will be anxiety-inducing (a cyst! Follicles not growing! #s! Uterine lining measurements!). Everyone I know has had something come up that felt like bad medical news. It’s an anxiety-inducing process but you’re not alone!

Double check your meds/quantities when you get them to prevent any last-minute scrambles

Follistim cartridges and Gonal F pens both have extra units (i.e., they say they have “300 units” but really they have more than that). Follistim has over 100 extra and Gonal F has 50-75 extra. Save your pens so that at the end you can ask the nurses at the clinic to combine them for you into a single vial to make use of the extras and save $$! Just note that you’ll have to use a needle + vial (similar to Menopur process) — they don’t put it back into the Gonal F pen, but it’s the same meds!

If you know one vein is the ONE or one is NOT the one, tell your phlebotomist so they don’t fish around in there!!! The times I haven’t given them the DL on my east-west vein, big regrets.
