Guster is one of those bands that somehow still flies under the radar after 30+ years, and it drives me crazy. They started as a quirky acoustic trio at Tufts busking in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA, with hand percussion and tight harmonies, then just kept evolving without ever repeating themselves. Every album feels like a reaction to the last one folk-pop to polished alt-rock to breezier, weirder, more experimental stuff, yet it always sounds like Guster. Melodic as hell, smart without being pretentious, and criminally underrated. If you haven’t given them a real shot, start with Lost and Gone Forever or Keep It Together and go from there. Oh and their live experience is absolutely amazing and generally unforgettable!
