So I finally found downtime to start going through these recommendations and as promised this was first on the list and in the first three minutes I was laughing and smiling at Andrea’s relationship and banter with their partner to being on the verge of tears as they narrate “Life Anthem.” Will provide my full review once I’m done with the movie.

(1/?) Just finished. Doesn't the closing song by Sara Bareilles and Brandi Carlile so beautifully sum the movie up — life is salty, sour, and sweet? The opening scene of Andrea and Meg comparing their writing styles is why I have love their poetry. They love using cliches but Meg is opposed to it. But I love how they take an idea and at times take it to its logical cliched extreme. My favorite poem is "every time I said I wanted to die" and I love the way that images of astronomy are weaved into the poem. Metaphors of the sky, planets, dancing, the universe anthropomorphized. And at the end, the tunnel of darkness is stretched out like a telescope for the grief astronomer. What a gorgeous line. I love how infectious their energy is. It seems like strangers are drawn to them like gravity. Even in the hardest of situations there's always a joke to be made somewhere. I found myself at times in tears but an off remark joke would have me laughing literally out loud.

(2/?) God I haven't laughed out loud in...months. I love the running gag with the mailbox. I stopped at the beginning just because I needed to write down the quote, "If I were the mail person, I would deliver this because I would see how hard people tried." I've always been comfortable with my own mortality. And I've dealt with my share of grief of people passing in and out of my life and one life lesson I've learned is that nothing is permanent. But suddenly I felt challenged. Andrea was fighting so hard for just a few more weeks. There was the comment about how they used to wish that when they die that everything would die at once but now they want to see be there to see their friends and family one last time. And I think that struck something in me. I think I want so desperately to live and to experience the love and happiness they've had in other people's lives. Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe the movie like every cliche under the sun. I think Andrea would be proud.
