A revelation and the best place I’ve been in a long time. A wonderful hotel, a member of the Relais & Châteaux, that’s focus is a three-star restaurant without the hyper finicky-ness or Instagram idiocy you might expect comes with that. The food, much based on the principles of the late, great Michel Guérard. The kitchen is s now overseen by Hugo Souchet and has the lightness associated with Nouvelle Cuisine, which Guérard helped pioneer. There’s more than gastronomy, there’s also La Ferme aux Grives, a lovely stone farmhouse, where everything is cooked over fire. The grounds are lovely, there’s a spa with a thermal bath, the town is charming. I was truly enamored with this special, special place, which is not overwhelmed by Americans. For lovers of France, lovers of food, this is recommended in the strongest possible terms.
