MOB Cream Clay Eyeshadow in M146

This one definitely is an acquired taste. The cream clay formula from MOB doesn’t dry down completely. For their matte shades, I will apply a little RCMA No Color Powder over the top, and they last all day. Since this one is a shimmer, I don’t like to add any powder on top because it would mess with the finish, so I just deal with the creasing. I prime EVERY eye look with my MAC eye primer which helps a lot in terms of not letting my eyelid oil break down the eyeshadow, but it definitely still moves around and creases. It just kind of is what it is and if that’s not the kind of product you want, this isn’t for you. This isn’t always the kind of product I want, but when it is, I sure do love it. It gives a very grungy, lived in vibe. I always think of Terry Barber’s grease or metal inspired eye looks, or Avril Lavigne on stage in 2002 with smudged, sweaty eyes when I use this.

The color itself is the perfect marriage of a taupey purple and a gunmetal. Actually, before I owned this shadow I used to mix MOB’s Cream Clay’s in M111 and M162 which pretty much gave me this color. This color pairs well with the creamier formula. If it were a lesss grungy purple, I think the creasing would bother me, but the color gels with the texture very well. I definitely like to wear this one when I’m wearing all black, or a punkier outfit. It’s fun to wear, and it always turns my mood a little more carefree.
