the bricks that hold the front door open

every apartment i've had has always had these silent travelers in the entryway. where did you all come from? very mysterious. all we know is that it shows signs of past life, of other strangers needing a big rock to prop the door open as they drag their bed inside. a salute to you as i accidentally knock it loose moving my coffee table.
