I have no idea why “house burping” suddenly became a trend or where that name even came from, but airing out your home has been a thing in Germany for generations. Opening the windows and letting fresh air circulate is just part of daily life. It’s one of those habits that has stayed with me no matter where I am. At home, in a hotel, on vacation—if there’s a window, I’m probably opening it. Whatever you want to call it—house burping, airing out, or lüften —I’m fully on board.
