The Hearing Trumpet (Leonora Carrington)

“Pure savage fun to read this gonzo tale of a clever old woman who is sent to a retirement community where all the houses look like cast-offs from a demented fairy-tale putt-putt course. Gradually, she discovers that the whole place is like the lid of boiling pot, jittering over anarchic wildness burbling away underneath.”

Steven Weill

“An elderly woman is sent to an institution that becomes its own occult architectural puzzle. Hilarious, anarchic and genuinely surreal rather than ~dreamlike~.”
