Alexander the Great - Philip Freeman

A ripping biography with expansive coverage of the ancient world. I think the contemporary world always underestimates the extent to which the ancient world was already rich with history, connected, civilized, and cultured - this book does much to illuminate those themes. Delightful, educational, provocative.

On a similar, somewhat parallel path, I'm fascinated by "the ancient world... rich with history..." and found another book; "America Before" by Graham Hancock to be utterly enlightening in it's lengthy but engaging narrative about human history prior to 12,800 years ago when I had no idea it was even a thing.
Nice, will check it out!
