I’m going to Budapest for the first time this winter! Looking for all recommendations (besides hotel, I’ve covered that!) interesting architecture, must sees/dos in general, hole in the wall type spots, anything off the beaten path

‘Labirintus’ Labyrinth under Buda Castle: If you like spooky things. I spent about 2 hours here just wandering around by myself. My favorite part is the pitch black section that you can only navigate by using a handrail installed on the wall. The creepiness is offset a bit by the slightly off kilter mannequin display. Which then ratchets back up with piped in Gregorian chants in the mausoleum.

Handmade Brushes at 1001 Kefe: I stumbled upon this century-old little shop of handmade brushes and it's such a delight - most of the brushes are kept in drawers and you have to ask the shopkeeper what's in each and they'll bring it out to show you. I still have my book brush (a little handheld duster) and boar's bristle hairbrush more than a decade later - they still bring joy each time I use them!

Néptáncosok kellékboltja: This is off the path for sure. Hungarian folk dance store for modern apparel and dance accessories. You'll find some handmade modern cotton blouses, those velvet Mary Jane's everyone wears (but these are better), some great skirts and maybe something handmade and authentic. There may be a rare find idk it's hard to say but I do love them
