In San Francisco's foggy Outer Sunset, Case for Making sells their handmade, artist grade watercolors. You can also find a thoughtfully curated selection of cold-pressed watercolor paper, palettes made in Italy to store your colors, ceramics to blend pigments, and other painting supplies. I love their brushes, particularly the golden travel sized ones which fit into the palm of your hand when broken down.
Case for Making also sends out one of the few newsletters I actually want to subscribe to: each month they announce their roster of online and in person watercolor workshops taught by a slate of working artists. They're great for beginners and experienced painters, alike.
