As someone who knew next-to-nothing about birding, I loved watching these two brothers dive in head-on. It’s informative, honest, and extremely funny without knocking the birding community. There is incredible footage of birds, being on the road, and an unexpected dissection of the toxic gamification of “listing”. It was peculiar to observe such competitive behavior within a nature-based hobby that I wouldn’t have expected to be so cagey and particular. It’s a glimpse into the world and ethics of birdwatching, and also an honest reflection of the vast weirdness of America. I will think about this movie for a long time!

“Funny, informative, breathtaking doc about the world of competitive birding. And they uploaded it to YouTube for FREE!”

“These bros are delightful self-effacing storytellers, because its about the birds duh, and you find yourself emphatically charmed by them.”

“If you haven't watched Listers, I highly recommend blocking off 2 hours for this beauty. I am not a bird watcher but this definitely made me more interested in watching birds! And also watching bird-watchers, a hilarious bunch. This is mostly a human story about two brothers--complete amateur birders--on a quest to see as many birds as they can in one year while living out of a minivan.”
