Back in 2015, Kevin and I had the very good fortune of being guests at designer Antonio Marras’ and his wife Patrizia’s seaside home in Sardinia. The whole trip was unbelievably breathtaking, particularly observing how Antonio and his family treated every corner of their summer escape like a living art installation. His collections and curated clusters of all manner of THINGS organized like studies in texture and form still come to mind when moving through an estate sale or even a museum. Years later, when I found an almost identical turquoise vintage children’s chair on the sidewalk, instead of putting it in my daughter’s room, I did exactly what Antonio did and stacked it with favorite books in our loft.
In general, tiny chairs and stools are plentiful at thrift shops and even tossed out to the curb for trash pickup. Mismatched, they are even better.
