I Was a Teenage Slasher (Stephen Graham Jones)

It made me feel the way I felt the first time I saw Scream and the first time I read The Shining. SGJ is writing some of the best horror out there right now and I heartily recommend ALL of his books, but especially this one.

If you want something more existential, can't recommend Shirley Jackson enough. The miniseries Rose Red was supposed to be King's take on 'The Haunting of Hill House' (the short story that spawned a thousand adaptations) and is one of my favorites, too.
