Google's ever-growing monopoly has allowed them to invade our privacy and enshittify services that we all rely on. one of the easiest ways to divest yourself yourself from Google products and improve your quality of life is to quit using Chrome ASAP.
Personally I prefer Firefox but there's a ton of options out there that are more focused on protecting your info and aren't plugged into the big tech ecosystem!
If you want broad support with ad blocking and extensions: Firefox
If you want privacy and a good built in search engine: DuckDuckGo
If you want to be private AND anonymous: Tor
If you want privacy: Brave or Zen
If you want to customize it: Vivaldi
If you have an iOS device, even Safari offers all of the same features as Chrome (extensions, sharing history and bookmarks across devices) while being a lot more privacy minded - and it's already on your phone.
You may find that some sites don't play nice with all browsers, but that will also alert you to sites that might be trying to get more data out of you than you want. If something looks weird or isn't clickable, try a private window!
