ISO the perfect raincoat. I’m sorry to say I am so picky when it comes to rain coats. It must be waterproof, not water resistant. It must have some sort of venting at the armpits. It must not make me sweat when I wear it. It must not be “sporty.” It must cover my butt. It must be less than $250. It must have a hood, ideally one that is removable. Trying to decide if I can be flexible on that last point. Help!

Not sure if this is too "sporty" for your measure but it reads more "running errands" than "hiking in the backcountry" to me.

Waterproof, mesh and ventilation on the back/torso to combat sweat, mid-thigh to cover your butt.

As an alternative: if you find a "water resistant" coat that you LOVE, hit that baby with some waterproofing spray! That shit is MAGIC. (Scotchguard makes a great one that's easy to apply.)
