vanity plates
Recommended by Chelseaowens
There’s two types of people: those who like vanity plates and those who don’t.
I’m fascinated by them. There’s honestly too many people in California trying to get the best vanity plates, if I lived in Wyoming I’d have my pick of vanity plates.
People with clever vanity plates are doing us all a service by giving us a fun puzzle to solve while in the slog of driving. There’s so many possibilities in 6-7 characters. CHUZJOY.
Why are they even called vanity plates anyhow?

You might have more competition for a vanity plate in Wyoming or Montana than you’d think because a higher percentage of people have them — they’re wildly cheap! $25-35 bucks to do it, vs. $100+ in CA.
I mean, a higher percent of like 1/60th of the population, so you’re probably still safe. But my husband is from Montana and he said when teens get their first car, they almost always get a vanity plate on it (it was only $20 back then!).
