northern sea oats grass (Chasmanthium latifolium)

It's a lovely plant all summer long, but this one really shines in the autumn as the seedheads dry out and rustle beautifully in the breeze. Gorgeous in arrangements, too, like in this wreath by Mary Catherine Kronk. An absolute marvel.
