To be honest, my system could be a bit more glamorous. I think it kind of depends on your gardening situation. I am based in NYC and garden at my local community garden, so I keep all of my seeds in their packets organized by category (herbs, vegetables, flowers, native plants etc.) in gallon ziplock freezer bags, and then these all live in a larger canvas tote bag that goes back and forth with me from apartment to garden. This way it’s pretty light, portable and it can be mostly waterproof when I’m working outside. I was also recently given the seed collection of a dear late friend, and it arrived in old cookie tins and a vintage faux alligator 8-track case retrofitted with custom cut cardboard dividers. This lives at home mostly & functions as the archives. I move things from here into my bag system as I need to plant them. I’ve seen people use toolboxes, fishing tackle boxes and check-sized accordion files with the elastic band closure, too. Hope this helps and happy gardening! 🌿

Sorry about your friend. What a special gift. 🫂 Thanks for the tips! I need to work on closures and I like your general categories. Your system sounds simple and effective!!! Thank you so much for writing that out for me! I really appreciate it.
