Frederic Church’s Olana: Frederic Church is one of the better known members of the Hudson River School of landscape painting.

He lived in the HV but also traveled widely including the Middle East and created works inspired by and celebrating the grandeur of Nature.

He also designed and built Olana with architect, Calvert Vaux. The house is a fantastic example of Victorian romantic decoration drawing on many influences blending Moorish, Gothic and Italianate elements.

Dia Beacon: My favorite museum! The space is bright and beautiful and very fun to explore. The Richard Serra sculptures are my favorite. Wander the grounds, shop in beacon, maybe go on a hike.
