I’ll take literally any excuse to listen to Werner Herzog. This movie not only “stars” Herzog but covers a writer very near and dear to me, Bruce Chatwin. Bruce’s writings on his Patagonia travels in the 60s and 70s are foundational in the travel writing genre. Astute and wild storytelling, perfect amount of truth embellishment and a focus on shedding light on the forgotten stories. This doc examines Chatwin’s complex legacy and his imprint on the entire travel industry he helped spawn. A must watch for Herzog fans and travelers. Also I highly highly highly recommend his book Songlines about Australia’s aboriginal tribes.
