Buy a print of your NY apartment from the 1940s

I turned the photo of our apartment into Thank You cards for the many many people who wrote us recommendations for our co-op! I love every opportunity to use the cards!

Did you know there's a map where you can look up almost any NYC address, see what it looked like in the 1940s, and then order a print of it? Between 1939 and 1941, the Works Progress Administration collaborated with the NYC Tax Dept to collect photographs of most NYC buildings, and there's a site that's made it super easy to order prints. It's the coolest thing in the world and makes a GREAT gift.

“Between 1939 and 1941, the Works Progress Administration collaborated with the New York City Tax Department to collect photographs of most buildings in the five boroughs of New York City. In 2018, the NYC Municipal Archives completed the digitization and tagging of these photos. This website places them on a map.”
