Boys State

A doc that follows the Texas iteration of Boys State. Boys State is a summer program across each state where adolescent boys nominated across various regions form a pseudo government, allegedly to teach them leadership skills. It’s sometimes uplifting - but very disheartening. It’s wild to watch how quickly the youth devolve into political caricatures. There’s a companion documentary Girls State that would also be a good addition - the program receives far less funding, and the disparity in treatment and programming for the girls is STARK.
