An utterly mind-blowing read, not just for the stunning writing, but for the emotional objectivity the author is writing from. I don’t know that I have ever read its equal, in as far as its brutality is matched by the empathy it stirs in me (ie the reader). I often think of it, years later. Burning for the day her debut novel HOUSE RULES (impossible to find) is reissued! 10/10
