Roman Stories

Claire Simon

“Sometimes when I think something I want to do is too challenging, I think about the fact that Jhumpa Lahiri learned Italian and then wrote short stories in it. You can do hard things!”

“I’m not usually a short story person – I like to spend a long time with characters – but this is an exquisite example of quality > quantity. I look forward to diving into a new perspective every night, and each vignette is a thoughtful deep dive into a new set of characters’ lives and corner of the city. Plus, if I can’t make it to Rome IRL this summer, reading Jhumpa Lahiri’s beautiful stories is”
