Nike Wmns Air Max Flyknit Venture 'Bronzine Smokey Mauve' FD2110 700: I did 27,000 steps in Kyoto (including all of Fushimi Inari) in these bad boys. I’ve worn them so so much and they still look as good as the day I bought them. The knit top is stretchy for swelling feet and also allows them to breathe. Faves.

Mount to Coast H1 Women's Running Shoe: I got these in the brown colorway and they are super cute! The elastic adjuster is actually so convenient, because you can make it looser at the toe box and still tight at the top with the laces for comfortable but solid support. I wore these for three days of hut to hut hiking in Slovakia and they were great. They are actually trail running shoes, so they are super lightweight, which is nice for travel. Maybe not as much ankle support as a traditional hiking boot, but I thought these were great for short to moderate hikes (5-10 miles with lots of elevation gain) over very rocky terrain.

Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX: I bought these for my trip to Greece a few weeks ago. I wore them on rocky hikes, navigating villages (lots of stairs), and at the airport.

They are so cute and so light! I opted to get the gore-tex version so I can wear them year round cause I live in New England, but they’re definitely a little less breathable than the mesh version.

Jasper by Keen: Some might argue these are more hideous than your average hiking shoe, and I respect that opinion. I feel fun and funky and fashun in mine and get compliments on them every time I wear them. Good toe and good grip but no ankle support (obvi, not a boot), so be sure to gauge the level of hiking shoe you need. They do have a few varietals.

Flower Mountain: Look for the performance models, most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn! They’re grippy, waterproof and lined with cork. Tromped around Iceland for a few weeks in them and still reach for them even on a gross city day.
